Continuous monitors provide operators with instant feedback on the status and functionality of their wrist strap and/or workstation. They detect split-second failures when the wrist strap is still in the "intermittent" stage. This is prior to a permanent "open" which could result in damage to ESD sensitive components. Continuous monitors verify the ground integrity of both the operator and ESD workstation and eliminate the need for periodic testing (and record keeping). Dual polarity technology
provides true continuous monitoring of wrist strap functionality and operator safety according to accepted industry standards. Dual-wire continuous monitors
are to be used with dual-wire wrist straps
and provide redundancy; even if one dual-wire wrist strap conductor is severed, the operator still has a reliable path-to-ground with the other conductor.
The Vermason Body Voltage Monitor is a single station continuous monitor for one operator, one ESD worksurface and one tool ground. A second monitored jack is featured for use by a supervisor or second operator.
The Vermason Body Voltage Monitor uses Dual-Channel Voltage Monitoring Technology for true continuous monitoring (versus pulsed or intermittent). The Dual-Channel Voltage Monitoring Technology uses one lead of the dual-wire wrist strap to provide a path-to-ground for the operator while the other lead continuously monitors for voltage induced onto the operator greater than ±3 VDC. Voltage on the operator can be caused by strong AC fields in the work area or by other charge generators such as rolling a non-ESD safe chair.
