“Ionisers should be considered as a method for charge netralisation in cases where grounding cannot be acheived. These may include localised (bench) Ionised air blowers, compressed air Ionisers, spot Ionisers, tape dispenser Ionisers, and total room Ionisers.” “Air ionisation can neutralise the static charge on insulated and isolated objects by seperate charges in the molecules of the gases in the surrounding air. When a static charge is present on objects in the work environment, it will be neutralised by attracting opposite polarity charges from the Ionised air. Note that ionisation systems should not be used as a primary means of charge control on conductors or people. As with all Ionisers, periodic maintenance will be needed to provide optimum performance.” (EN 61340-5-2 paragraph 5.2.9)
“Various feedback and auto balance techniques are available to ensure ionizer performance Providing a sensor for each ionizing device can improve feedback control. Effective control can reduce the amount of necessary maintenance.
