A fundamental principle of ESD control is to ground conductors, including people at ESD protected workstations. Wrist straps are the first line of defense against ESD - they are:
- the most common personnel grounding device used and
- required to be used if the operator is sitting.
Dual-wire wrist straps offer a reduced risk of damaging ESD sensitive devices in critical applications. For maximum benefits use dual-wire wrist straps together with dual-wire continuous monitors. Advantages of using dual-wire wrist straps:
1. Eliminate intermittent failures
2. Extend lifespan of wrist strap
An important feature of dual-wire wrist straps is that even if one conductor is severed, the operator has reliable path-to-ground with the other wire. The continuous monitor used with the wrist strap will alarm. However, the operator will still be grounded by the other wire. So there is a significantly reduced risk of damaging the product if the operator happens to be handling an ESD sensitive component when the wrist strap fails.
| 1.||Vermason MagSnap 360™ Dual-Wire Wrist Straps have a magnetic connection between the wrist band and coiled cord (must be with a a MagSnap 360™ band). This creates a superior electrical connection and eliminates intermittent failures that can occur in traditional snap connections that use springs. The magnetic connection extends the lifespan of the wrist strap and maintains a 1-5 pound perpendicular breakaway force to prevent accidental disconnects.|
| 2.||Jewel® MagSnap Dual-Wire Wrist Straps create a magnetic connection between the wristband and coil cord. This allows for a more consistent disengagement force compared to standard 4mm designs. The 3.5mm mono plug is compatible with SCS and other brand continuous monitors. The MagSnap revolutionary design provides consistent retention and release performance. |Need a Sample – Request it Here
